ToonDoo

ToonDoo is a website that allows you to create cartoons. It supplies images and features that you can add to animate and make your cartoon more appealing.

It does not have a particularly hard level of difficulty, but users will find it easier if they are proficient in using the mouse and if they are familiar with other creative softwares. I have only used the make your own cartoon part of the website. Now ToonDoo offers a way to make digital books and characters.

Students or teachers can create comics to express thoughts, ideas, or even use as a fun way to display research that was completed. I like to use it as an introduction to a lesson or have it up on the Smart Board as students enter as a focal point. Teachers can use it as a creative homework assignment also.

The tool is worth learning because it is an exciting, different way to display knowledge in the classroom. It can be used by teachers to excite students about a topic or it can be used creatively by students.

Here is a link to a cartoon that I created...

  1. Thanks for posting this, I have never heard of it before, but I think the kids would love this, high school students too, especially when reading graphic novels.

  2. What a great tool! I have never heard of ToonDoo (or 95% of the other digital tools in our encyclopedia). I, too, think it is a wonderful resource for the classroom. I am on my way to becoming a Spanish teacher and would love to use this in my classroom. I can assign a topic and or vocabulary words and allow my students' imaginations to run wild. This is something that can be adapted to suite all topics and units, which is great because students can use it numerous times and hopefully become proficient in using it. I remember in high school we actually made our own cartoons using paper, pencils, and crayons. I believe that this would be a much more interactive, exciting, and creative way for students to express themselves.

  3. Hi D.Melia.

Thanks so much for sharing this interesting and cool website tool. As a future social studies teacher, I can definitely use ToonDoo in the classroom to create interesting and engaging assignments. History is more fun when you can make it come alive using animation and creativity!

  4. I love toondoo. I have been meaning to use it for some time now but I cannot figure out a way to use it for my global studies 9 cirriculum. I keep on hoping I get to teach a PIG, US History, or Global 10 class just so I can use it.

  5. Thank you for sharing on ToonDoo! This sounds like a great tool that could be helpful in the classroom, and also get students engaged. I think this would be great for me to use as a Social Studies teacher. In social studies classes we will talk about political cartoons and what they mean. I could make up some sort of cool project where students create their own political cartoons by utilizing this ToonDoo
